Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development Fellowship Programme for Master’s Degrees in Hungary, 2013


The Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) on behalf of the Hungarian government is offering rural development fellowship programme for the students of developing countries. The fellowship is available for pursuing Master of Science (MSc) degree at Corvinus University of Budapest (Faculty of Horticultural Science), Kaposvár University( Faculty of Animal Science), Szent István University(Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences), Szent István University(Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences) and University of Pannonia(Georgikon Faculty). The fellowship will cover tuition, books, and subsistence costs for the entire duration of the course. The application will be submitted by email until 28th February 2013.

Study Subject(s): The Master of Science degree courses are offered in English for the 2013-2014 academic years in agriculture, plant protection, rural development and agribusiness, animal nutrition and feed safety and horticulture.
Course Level: The fellowships programme is available for Master of Science (MSc) degrees.

Eligibility: - Citizenship of one of the eligible countries.
-Students holding a BSc/MSc or equivalent. Specific requirements may be applied by single Universities.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macedonia, Mali, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North-Korea, Philippines, Serbia, Somalia, South-Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen can apply for the fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), on behalf of the Government of Hungary, has established a Fellowships programme for Master of Science (MSc) degrees for students originating from the eligible countries: A Scholarship Study Contract will be signed between the selected student and the Ministry of Rural Development of Hungary (MRDH), which is the donor of the programme at the time of first semester registration.Student selection will take place in two phases:
 Phase 1: FAO will pre-screen candidates and submit recommendations to the Ministry of Rural Development of Hungary that will send them to the corresponding University as chosen by the applicants. Students must submit only COMPLETED dossiers. Incomplete dossiers will not be considered. It is important to note that a favorable pre-screening in the first step does not guarantee selection.
Phase 2: The participating Universities will run a further selection process and inform each of the successful candidates. Student selection will be made by the Universities only, without any involvement on the part of FAO. Selected students will also be notified by the Ministry. Selected candidates may be asked to take a written or oral English examination as part of the admission procedure.

Duration of award(s): The fellowship is awarded for the entire duration of the course.

What does it coverThe fellowship will cover tuition, books, and subsistence costs for the entire duration of the course. The awarded students however will be responsible for financing their travel to and from Hungary. Family members cannot be supported in any way under the framework of the Fellowships programme.

Selection Criteria: Candidates will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
-Citizenship of one of the eligible countries
-Excellent school achievements
-Good health
-Motivation
-English language proficiency (for courses taught in English)
-Age (candidates under 30 are preferred).

How to Apply: Interested applicants should prepare a dossier to be sent by E-mail to FAO consisting of:
-Application form duly completed
-A recent curriculum vitae
-A copy of high school/college diploma and transcript/report of study or copy of the diploma attachment
-Copies of relevant pages of passport
-A letter of recommendation
-Statement of motivation
-A certificate of good health
-A statement of clean criminal records.
All submitted documents must be in English. Documents submitted in any other language will not be accepted. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that documents are duly translated and certified by a competent office.

Scholarship Application Deadline: Application deadline is 28th February 2013.
