The INTASAVE Partnership and CARIBSAVE are seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual for the position of Project Development and Fundraising Officer (PD & FRO), initially for a one year term (open to renewal for the right candidate). The PD & FRO will work directly with the Director of Philanthropy and International Development, identifying and delivering on opportunities to secure significant resources and funding from a variety of major national, regional and international donors and organisations.

The other duties of the position are:

•         Undertaking preliminary research for funding proposals; which may be specific to a climate related activity or for a particular donor;
•         Undertaking research, to include collecting, collating and analysing information and data, relevant to INTASAVE’s and CARIBSAVE’s current and potential work;
•         Developing and writing complex climate related proposals, for example to research councils, statutory donors and global funding institutions;
•         Completing Suitability Statements and other promotional pieces for third-party funding submissions;
•         Promoting INTASAVE and its work in Africa;
•         Identifying and researching suitable donors;
•         Assisting with communications and marketing tasks, associated with fundraising, e.g. website, copy.

Essential selection criteria is as follows:

•         Master’s degree or equivalent experience in climate change, or a similar subject with strong focus on climate change;
•         Knowledge and experience of sustainable development issues and/or climate compatible development;
•         Experience of writing complex documents for consumption by both technical and non-technical users;
•         Experience of adjusting written and verbal communication for specific target audiences;
•         Ability to review, analyse and synthesise long and detailed documents and reports;
•         Excellent written and communication skills;
•         Strong computer skills, particularly digital presentations, Word documents and Excel calculations;
•         Ability to work under pressure and meet regular tight deadlines;
•         A flexible, methodical and conscientious approach to work;
•         Ability to work both independently and as a team;
•         Self-motivated and passionate about the subject of climate change.

The INTASAVE Partnership (INTASAVE) works around the world with governments, regional organisations, communities, the private sector, universities, international development agencies and development banks.

Location: Based at either the INTASAVE Kenya Office, Nairobi or The INTASAVE Office at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
