Recruiter


The IRC is seeking high energy individual with exceptional relationship building skills and creative approaches to sourcing talent. This individual will work as part of a high functioning recruitment team to ensure timely and quality recruitment for international positions. S/he will be responsible for all pro-active sourcing, advertising, screening, interviewing, reference checking and final negotiations for open positions in his/her portfolio. All work will be accomplished in a spirit of partnership and service with the hiring manager. S/he will also initiate and implement recruitment strategies to increase the IRC’s talent pool and pipelines, and will provide input to ensure the IRC has diverse global talent that performs at a high level responding to the changing needs of the organization. S/he will implement industry “best practices” that ensure the timely selection of top talent, and will recruit for talent that will support IRC’s organizational culture, while contributing to IRC’s position as an employer of choice.
The successful recruiter will focus on full-cycle recruiting for both regular positions as well as positions with short deadlines such as proposals, emergencies, consultancies, short-term assignments across all regions. Based in Nairobi, the Recruiter will report to the Sr. Recruiting Manager based in HQ in New York City.
Responsibilities
In close supervision with Recruiting Mgr. develop strategies to source, attract, recruit and select high quality candidates against defined criteria. Anticipate and lead recruiting efforts for regular positions in the region as well as proposals, emergencies, consultants and short-term assignments.
Work with technical teams on identifying recruitment needs for pre solicitations and proposals, and assists the technical teams to make final staffing decisions. Provide guidance to hiring managers to identify a balanced interview team, design an efficient and professional interview process and prepare interviewers. Create talent pipeline for regular and “just in time” positions. Negotiate salary, allowances and extend offers of employment. Provide innovative solutions to recruiting challenges and ensure timeliness and efficiency throughout candidate search. Prepare job profiles in accordance with staffing plans. Initiate necessary reference and background checks for candidates. Identify innovative solutions to expand candidate pipeline to include social media. Represent the IRC at industry related career fairs, conferences, off-site recruitment efforts, and networking events to build talent pipeline. Undertake recruiting trips as necessary. In close partnership with the Sr. Recruiting Manager, develop relevant recruiting metrics for key clients and senior staff. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, International Relations or related field. Minimum 5-7 years solid recruiting experience with an international NGO. Must be able to travel up to 40% or as required. Fluency in French a plus. Experience working with other donor agreements including – USAID, DflD, ECHO; etc. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR) certification a plus.
