Description
 The special needs teacher will implement learning activities and will be responsible for designing and implementing of individualized learning programs that can be used effectively on each child.
 Will also work in partnership with fellow staff at the center to provide quality care and learning that will promote healthy development within the child.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Design and implementing individualized educational learning programs (IEP)
·         Develop and implement individualized Educational plan for each child that will promote the social, physical, cognitive and emotional development of the child
·         Prepare lessons and appropriate learning resources
·         Collaborate with other staff members to define appropriate activity for each child that will ensure maximum improvement
·         Assist in the daily caring of the children e.g feeding, cleaning and other activities of daily living (ADLS).
·         Carry out designated administrative duties and update and maintain records on child progress

Training and skill development
Provide technical guidance on special education intervention to fellow staff and other partners e.g caretakers and set a bench mark that meet the Kenyan Government standards

Networking
·         Develop and sustain effective working relationships with partners and other participants including Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social development, ministry of special populations and NGOs to promote service delivery and information sharing e.g. SEP (Special Education Professional organization)
·         Identify and Liaise with potential institutions and professional that can handle referrals on Special Education cases that are not compatible with the services at Paulo’s Home.

Qualification
·         Atleast a diploma in Early Childhood Development
·         Must have worked  with children with disabilities for atleast one year (added advantage)
·         Certificate from Kenya Institute of Special Education (added advantage )
