Capacity Development Short and Long Term Consultants, Kenya

Position Summary Futures Group is seeking short and long-term consultants who are experts in Capacity Development.  The consultant(s) will provide technical assistance and support to the Government of Kenya (GoK) national-level health sector agencies to support implementation of the new constitution and to key non-governmental organizations working in health policy, finance and governance.  The Capacity Development consultant will work closely with HPP/Kenya technical teams to support the planning, implementation, and documentation of individual and organizational capacity development activities. In particular, he/she will design and facilitate organizational capacity assessments, will facilitate the development of organizational capacity strengthening plans, and will work closely with the GoK and key partners to help them fulfill their strengthening plans.  

Responsibilities 
require knowledge of and experience in applying and measuring outcomes of a variety of capacity strengthening approaches.  Consultant(s) must be located in Nairobi, Kenya. Key Responsibilities Tailor and apply organizational capacity assessment tools and strengthening plans Introduce and apply a variety of capacity strengthening approaches and interventions Develop training curricula and learning resources related to health policy, finance and governance for government and NGO stakeholders Monitor and evaluate project's efforts to strengthen individual and organizational capacity Communicate with the HPP Technical Director for Capacity Development and other CD advisors in Washington and other HPP country programs to share experience, products, and lessons learned. Conduct all work to accepted standards of research ethics 

Qualifications

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:  Master's Degree or higher in public health, public policy, political science, public administration, communication or a related degree. 10 years of experience required.  At least 5 years' experience in capacity development of NGOs, capacity development of government agencies or public sector staff, and training  in the context of Kenya and/or East Africa Experience in designing and applying participatory adult learning principles Proven ability to work collaboratively and build consensus across diverse sets of stakeholders. Experience in documentation of project activities and results related to capacity development is highly desirable   Prior experience working with USG-funded programs is required. Strong written and oral communication skills for high-level policy audiences Strong facilitation and training skills required Ability and willingness to travel within Kenya
