2013 World Food Day Media Award in Kenya registration still open

Call for Entries: 4 weeks to go

Nairobi, Kenya, August 30, 2013- Journalists have an critical role to play in promoting the understanding of food and agricultural issues and specifically on challenges related to food security. The media can lend a hand by enlightening their audiences so that communities are sensitized on issues affecting food security.

The World Food Day Media Award in Kenya which was recently launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)-Kenya, recognizes outstanding contributions by the media in Kenya through compelling and newsworthy individual stories that have an impact.

This award for journalists under 30 years will harness the power of the media. It is set to elevate the standards of excellence in print media and offer the winners a boost in their professional profiles.

Who is eligible?
The Competition is open to print journalists from any Kenyan media house. The best examples of journalistic practice in the coverage of food security issues in Kenya in print from journalists under 30 years will be selected by a jury consisting of representatives from FAO, partners and media experts and will be awarded a cash prize.
