Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi invites applications for the position of Manager, Recruitment
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager Recruitment will deliver specialist advice and proactively facilitate line managers to optimally anticipate, plan and fulfil the staff needs. The incumbent will be required to contribute input to policies to ensure they remain responsive to the changing environment and global best practice. In return for outstanding performance, the position holder will expect a highly stimulating and learning work environment strongly drawing on one’s HR technical expertise and client-focused solutions development.
Key Responsibilities:
Working hand in hand with the respective line managers, you will be responsible for a very wide variety of technical disciplines and work programme areas to:
Ensure the timely identification of staffing gaps or anticipated vacancies, refine position specifications and job holder competence profiles, and ensure staff establishment approvals
Prepare job descriptions for various positions, in consultation with the line managers
Provide line managers with the HR Technical guidance on how to attract, motivate, deploy, retain, and manage the performance of their staff
Ensure timely filling of vacancies through internal transfers, or externally be designing advertisements in consultation with line managers
Facilitate staff selection activities by screening applications, interviewing/testing, document verification and reference checking
Assist line managers in structuring pay packages and negotiating employment offers
Obtain travel visas and work permits for all expatriate prospective employees
Ensure that all recruitment guidelines are followed including budgetary approvals, induction and physical examinations for new employees; and detailed documentation of all staffing processes
Requirements
Applicants should:
have a Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration
have at least 5 years’ management experience in the relevant Human Resources Area
have excellent interpersonal skills with the sensitivity and proactive credibility to win other’s confidence and decisively guide line managers on HR policy and technical best practice
have excellent oral and written communication
have Good exposure to office computer applications including databases and HRIS
have demonstrable critical thinking and problem solving ability with excellent attention to detail, and particular respect for stated policy and procedure
have a value system of high professional independence and integrity for the greater social good, in a highly diverse internal and external multi-cultural setting
have excellent working knowledge of job design, recruitment process management, interviewing and employment package negotiation and contracting
have up to date knowledge of global developments in competence profiling and sourcing
