Outward Bound is the pioneer and global leader in experiential learning processes.  Outward Bound (OBT) Kenya was established in 1952 to serve the entire Eastern Africa region.

Outward Bound is involved in people development for both the youth and the corporate world in offering consultancies in organizational development and variety of short training programmes such as Team development, Leadership, Effective Customer Care, Culture Change. OBT Kenya has a training Centre in Loitokitok and head office in Nairobi.
 
Vacancy:   Business Development Executive
Location: Nairobi
Reports to: Executive Director

Job Purpose
· To identify and convert business opportunities to convert them to revenue
· To build and manage a sustainable client portfolio for a profitable revenue growth.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
·         Develop and execute a marketing business plan to meet and exceed agreed sales targets
·         Identify business opportunities and convert them to revenue
·         Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support and liaison with internal staff
·         Carry out market research, competitor and customer intelligence to inform proposition development for new projects
·         Network widely across the sector in order to maximize outreach, develop strategic partnerships and reinforce relationships across existing channels
·         Develop and maintain a customer prospect database
·         Drive high level of customer satisfaction and advocacy within client base
·         Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information
·         Make business presentations to prospective clients with the aim of closing sales

Desirable Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business related course
·         Adept in use of MS Office
·         Desired skills, experience and competencies
·         Good varied interpersonal and communication skills with excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator
·         Experience of pro-actively generating leads
·         Understanding of the sales process or experience within a sales role
·         Experience and confident in writing proposals, creating presentations and writing reports
·         Commercial awareness and a broad understanding of business issues
·         Capacity and aptitude to undertake research and collate information as required
·         Able to communicate and converse effectively with senior people in order to gain trust and confidence
·         Focused, output driven and able to meet deadlines
·         Appreciate need for consistency within company’s branding and marketing mix
·         Personable, professional with high levels of probity and integrity
·         A confident and determined approach with the ability to cope with rejection and pressure
·         Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality and business profit
·         Forward planner who critically assesses own performance
·         Ability to work with the minimum of supervision, be part of a team, present a quality image and be willing to work unscheduled hours when required
·         Well-presented and businesslike
·         Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability
·         Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the region
