HelpAge International helps older people
claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they
ca n lead dignified, secure, active
and healthy lives. Our work in over 75 countries is strengthened through our
global network of like-minded organisations – the only one of its kind in the world. The EWCA Regional
Development Centre works with a range of partners across Africa to deliver
programming in a number of key areas including HIV/AIDS & health, income
security, emergency response and rights of older people.
This is an exciting opportunity represent HelpAge
International’s interests in the EWCA region and develop and establish a
regional programme in line with global strategies. You will support members and
partners efforts to strengthen the organisational capacity, participation and
influence of disadvantaged older people in the region. You will lead a diverse team to develop programmes and
policy work in the region in line with regional and global targets.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience of
international development and/or humanitarian work, including extensive
experience in Africa. You will have proven leadership skills and the ability to
manage a team, across cultures and at a distance. To be successful in this role
you will need to have extensive experience in advocacy and fundraising, as well
as experience in strategic planning, budgeting and reporting. Willingness to
travel extensively within the region is also essential for this role.
