ICT Assistant
A nonprofit organization focusing on helping populations in Nairobi through education, community outreach
and economic empowerment programmes in order to facilitate sustainable change is seeking to urgently fill
the above position.
Job Title: ICT Assistant
Reporting to: Senior Administrative Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Technical ICT Support
Configuration and Installation of new hardware and software, including procurement, testing and
assessing the needs of user training.
Secure security code and ensure the safe set up of new equipment.
Perform basic server and network Support roles and diagnostic routines
2. Maintenance
Manage the structure of the Centre’s intranet and internal systems and contribute to the development
of other e-learning solutions.
Support implementation of MIS solutions as required.
Detect, diagnose and resolve most PC, printer and peripheral device faults.
Under the guidance of the manager use specialist skills and experience to support individuals or
groups of users working on practical aspects of on line resources.
Produce material and equipment required for training as requested, including printing, downloading
of support material, work sheets and help sheets.
Assist in planning and implementing changes to elements of the ICT service as required.
3. Administration & Supervision
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of ICT software and licenses in centre.
Support the full range of financial planning for ICT, including purchase of larger items and help to
estimate future budget requirements.
Provide management information as required.
Develop and provide introductory computer session to first time computer users
Provide on-going computer support for return computer users
Have knowledge of online education resources and conduct introductory sessions for users
Maintain a schedule of introductory computer sessions and coordinate user participation
Work with Centre Librarian to plan and conduct sessions for the community on online resources
such as job search, financial planning, and other useful resources
Perform other related duties
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Familiar with the use of a wide range of ICT applications including windows operating systems, printers,
Servers, networking, antivirus etc., good ‘trouble shooting’, diagnostic and problem solving skills. Effective
verbal, written, presentation and listening communications skills, high level of integrity and be able to work
under minimum supervision.
Candidate must have KCSE Mean Grade C+, at least a C Plain in Mathematics and English/Kiswahili or its
approved equivalent. Hold a Diploma in Information Technology or an equivalent from a recognized
institution with at least 3 years work experience. A+. MCSE, CCNA certifications will be an added
advantage.
