Job Description and required qualifications
(Important Note - Position open to Kenyan nationals only)
Under the Supervision of the Gender Officer, the incumbent will assist in the implementation of SGBV prevention and response activities including the following functions:
 Assist in the prevention of and response to SGBV in the refugee community;
 Facilitate access to services for SGBV survivors including assistance, protection and solutions
 Provide training and raise awareness on SGBV prevention and response
 Assist in training and support PSN peer educators
 Develop accessible IEC material on SGBV
 Build capacity of SGBV survivors
 Facilitate inclusion and participation of SGBV survivors in development implementation
 Assist in establishing community based support mechanisms for delivery of assistance to SGBV survivors
 Assist in ensuring effective referral systems to ensure special needs and rights of SGBV survivors
are met
 Provide information on how and where to direct grievances on violation of rights/ discrimination
 Conduct vulnerability assessments and link SGBV survivors to assistance
 Assist in establishing and maintaining an up-to-date database of reported SGBV cases reported in the refugee community;
 Assist in monitoring all SGBV related issues and closely co-ordinate with key actors to ensure ongoing, accurate SGBV data collection and entry;
 Assist in progressively generating appropriate periodic reports and monitor trends related to SGBV;
 Assist in documenting innovation and good practices in the prevention of and response to SGBV;
 Inform and participate in URPN meetings and forums on matters related to SGBV and bolster interagency coordination/cooperation by ensuring timely intervention and follow up on referrals;
Perform other duties as required;

Qualifications:
Education: University degree preferably in the social sciences and strong database skills. Good
knowledge of SGBV issues and human rights doctrine. Experience working with refugees an added
advantage.

Skills and competencies
 Computer literacy a must - knowledge of MS Office required;
 Data handling skills and previous exposure to database management essential;
 Good knowledge of prevention and response to SGBV;
 Strong research, capacity building, analytical and report writing skills;
 Strong coordination, communication and interpersonal skills;
Experience: No less than two years work experience on SGBV prevention and response. Experience in
database management and work in the field of refugee sector a distinct advantage.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Swahili, knowledge of French a plus
