Legal Assistant


Job Purpose
To provide support services to enhance efficiency in delivery of legal services.

Academic Qualifications
• KSCE mean grade C+ or equivalent.
• Diploma in Law or legal Studies.
• A minimum of 3-5 Years.

Desirable skills
• Initiative
• Leadership and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Keen attention for details
• Filling, typing and records management


Job Specification
Tasks
• To keep inventory records of old files, update and open new file for new cases.
• To handle routine and general correspondence.
• To receive court process documents in absence of legal officer.
• To accompany witness to court when the need arises.
• To assemble documents/witness statements and other supporting evidence for use in court of law.
• To assist in liaising with company external lawyers on matters before court.
• To oversee office operations in the absence of Legal Officer.
• To assist in ensuring contracts/agreements are appropriately executed.
• To arrange and ensure witness attend pre-case hearing and court hearing.
• To participate in the preparation of monthly reports and annual budget.
• To review incidents of violation against organizational policy and regulations as well as handle employee’s disputes and take appropriate action in line with approved policies, procedures and regulations.
• To maintain register of recorded court cases and ensures court cases diary are updated.
• To prepare draft contracts for onward submission to the Legal Officer for adjudication.
• To liaises with external lawyers on securing and sampling evidence in court cases.
• To identify, prepare and present company witness to court.
