Business Development Executive

Location: Nairobi

Remuneration: Basic salary plus high commission, car allowance, telephone allowance

Job Purpose
  • To identify and convert business opportunities to convert them to revenue
  • To build and manage a sustainable client portfolio for a profitable revenue growth.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a marketing business plan to meet and exceed agreed sales targets
  • Identify business opportunities and convert them to revenue
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support and liaison with internal staff
  • Carry out market research, competitor and customer intelligence to inform proposition development for new projects
  • Network widely across the sector in order to maximize outreach, develop strategic partnerships and reinforce relationships across existing channels
  • Develop and maintain a customer prospect database
  • Drive high level of customer satisfaction and advocacy within client base
  • Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information
  • Make business presentations to prospective clients with the aim of closing sales

Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business related course
  • Adept in use of MS Office

  • Good varied interpersonal and communication skills with excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator
  • Experience of pro-actively generating leads
  • Understanding of the sales process or experience within a sales role
  • Experience and confident in writing proposals, creating presentations and writing reports
  • Commercial awareness and a broad understanding of business issues
  • Capacity and aptitude to undertake research and collate information as required
  • Able to communicate and converse effectively with senior people in order to gain trust and confidence
  • Focused, output driven and able to meet deadlines
  • Appreciate need for consistency within company’s branding and marketing mix
  • Personable, professional with high levels of probity and integrity
  • A confident and determined approach with the ability to cope with rejection and pressure
  • Self driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality and business profit
  • Forward planner who critically assesses own performance
  • Ability to work with the minimum of supervision, be part of a team, present a quality image and be willing to work unscheduled hours when required
  • Well presented and businesslike
  • Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability
  • Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the region
