Location: Nairobi, Kenya Duration: 3 years with the possibility of renewal Base salary from $55,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, with an attractive international benefits package (tax free*). Total package circa $93,000 per annum. The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to enhance the roles livestock play in pathways out of poverty in developing countries. The Position: ILRI seeks to recruit a Market and Capacity Development Manager to build and execute a market and capacity development strategy to support efforts to bring to scale its Index-Based Livestock Insurance (IBLI) agenda. As a member of the team that designs, developments, implements and evaluates ILRI’s award-winning IBLI program (www.ilri.org/ibli), the assignment involves working with the suite of IBLI partners that range from research leaders, our research-for-development partners, commercial entities, NGOs, government agencies, and target communities to manage the transition from pilot to scale-up. The successful candidate will bring expertise and a proven track record working on the interface of development, research and business to design and introduce the institutions, policies and support services needed to catalyze IBLI market development and build a critical mass of informed clients. This will be achieved both through personally implementing the relevant activities and through cultivating collaborations with strategic partners to support various identified implementation needs. The marketing and capacity development strategy will encompass the ability to assess and cater to the capacity development needs for key agents across the IBLI market chain as well as to asses and develop the market systems that are consistent with the needs and context of the target population. Responsibilities:
Position level: The position is Scientist/Research level 2 – dependent on skills and experience. Duration: 3 years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and continued funding.
