We currently have an exciting career opportunity for Finance system Project Manager. The post
holder will report to Chief Finance Officer and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Role Purpose
To oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of the following specific project;
1. Finance and Accounting system.
Responsibilities
Plan the projectØ Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
Ø Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to
successfully complete the project
Ø Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the
project
Ø Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the
activities
Ø Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be
affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
Ø Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its
completion
Staff the project
Ø In consultation with the appropriate manager, recruit, interview and select staff and/or
volunteers with appropriate skills for the project activities
Ø Manage project staff and/or volunteers according to the established policies and
practices of the organization
Ø Ensure that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the organization
and the project
Ø Contract qualified consultants to work on the project as appropriate
Ø Train users where necessary to enhance user acceptance and buy in
Implement the project
Ø Execute the project according to the project plan.
Ø Develop forms and records to document project activities.
Ø Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and
secured.
Ø Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the
successful completion of the project.
Ø Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff
in the organization on the progress of the project.
Ø Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to
ensure that it meets the project standards.
Control the project
Ø Write reports on the project for management.
Ø Obtain user acceptance sign off before commencement.
Ø Review existing policies and procedures and ensure same are amended to be in line with
the new systems.
Evaluate the project
Ø Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level
of quality.
Ø Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase.

Qualification and Experience
Academic Qualifications1. Business degree
2. Certified Public Accountant(an added advantage)
3. Project management certification(an added advantage)
Functional Skills
1. Ability to interpret technical procedures to staff.
2. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
within his team and the rest of the company
3. Considerable ability to give clear and consistent instructions to team members.
4. Considerable knowledge of and ability to utilize current word processing, spreadsheet,
database, e-mail and Internet software.
5. Knowledge of current hardware and software technologies and uses.
6. Writing proficiency and visual design skills.
7. Oral presentation skills.
8. Ability to develop, lead, motivate, and supervise working teams.
9. Problem solving and decision-making skills.
10. Formal training in project management and tools like Clarity and Microsoft Project.
11. Formal Project Management Certification (PMP). Professional designation a requirement.
12. Proficiency in the use of computers for:
• Word processing
• Simple accounting
• Data base management
• Spreadsheets
• E-mail
• Internet
Experience
2 to 3 years planning and/or management experience
