Internal Auditor

REF: IA/SIRSA/02.15

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the job holder shall be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Development of the yearly risk-based internal audit plan.
  2. Demonstrate excellent auditing skills in the performance and execution of quality audits: deliver audit work on time with minimal supervision, identify and discuss (raise and clear) audit issues with management, draft audit issues into a report highlighting the business impacts and risks, keep within time and cost budgets.
  3. Document, evaluate and test systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness to ensure:
  1. Compliance with policies and procedures,
  2. Accomplishment of management’s objectives,
  3. Reliability and integrity of information,
  4. Economic use of resources, and
  5. Safeguarding of assets
  1. Provide ad-hoc consultative advice to new projects/problem areas as may be required from time to time.
  2. Follow up and resolution of issues identified in internal and external reviews.
  3. Carrying out special reviews such as budgetary and spending reviews, extracting data and reports, identifying trends and flagging issues.
  4. Prepare draft reports, discuss findings with stakeholders and present neat working papers for review.
  5. Verifies payment vouchers and schedules to determine their authenticity
  6. Any other duties as assigned by management 

Skills, Competencies and Experience:

  1. Professional qualifications CPA (K) and a registered member of ICPAK
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in business related field added advantage
  3. Diploma in Co-operative Management as an added advantage.
  4. Proficiency in computer skills.
  5. At least 3 years’ experience to the position.
  6. Demonstrate leadership ability.
  7. Strong business and financial analytical skills.
  8. Have worked in a medium size Cooperative society
