About the organization:
We World (former Intervita) is an Italian-based independent, non-sectarian and nonpartisan organization. It operates in developing countries and its aim is to improve the living conditions of populations in the poorest areas. We World (former Intervita) cooperates in the realization of long-term development Projects in Africa, Asia and South America.
In all its projects and through the involvement of the entire community, We World (former Intervita) operates with the main objective of tackling the causes and consequences of poverty. For this purpose, Education and Health are the priority intervention areas in its fight against the consequences of poverty; whereas the causes of poverty are fought through Food Safety and Economic Development Projects; finally, special care is given in all Projects to Children’s rights, the Environment, Community participation and Equality in general.
We World (former Intervita) works in Kenya since 2010 in collaboration with local partners in Nyamira, Migori, Homabay and Narok areas. The projects are mainly focused on promoting child rights in education and health. A special attention is also paid to woman and girl rights. Actions on advocacy and education for development are also carried out.
Since 2010 an integrated project including primary and pre-primary schools has been implemented in Nyamira County. After the conclusion of the first phase project (2010-2012), a second phase started in 2013 which is due to finish in December, 2016. This new phase focuses on promoting the access to a better quality primary and pre-primary education through a set of various activities including trainings for teachers (in Montessori method, as an example), provision of furniture and learning materials, infrastructural and watsan support, linkages to the healthcare system, and development of school-based income generating activities (IGA).
Within this new phase, We World (former Intervita) is currently looking for a driver. His/her mission is to deliver people and things with total safety and reliability.

Position: Driver
Start Date: asap
Location: Kisii with frequent missions in project villages (Nyamira County) and in Nairobi
Responsibilities and Tasks
• Provide safe and reliable transportation to staff within various project sites
• Keep vehicle clean and maintained at all times
• Perform preventive and regular maintenance on vehicle
• Maintain driver logs
• Follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations
• Perform minor vehicle repairs such as cleaning spark plugs, or take vehicles to mechanics for servicing
• General assistance: pick up; drop offs for staff and visitors
• Safeguard all the contents in the vehicles
• Complete any errands or administrative and operational tasks
• Fulfil all the administrative formalities related to the vehicle (insurance, car tax, etc.)
• Report to the Project Manager all accidents, follow the repair work and ensure their consistency
• Perform other related duties as required
Qualification and Experience
• At least 5 years’ experience as driver in rural areas
• Previous experience with NGOs
• K.C.S.E Certificate with a mean grade of C- (Minus) and above
• Valid driver’s licence
• Knowledge of the intervention area (Nyamira County) is an asset
• Basic mechanical and experience with oil changes and minor repair work
• Proficient spoken and written English (spoken Swahili and Ekegusii is an advantage)
• Kenyan nationality

Type Contract: 1 year contract renewable (after 3 months of successful probation period)
