Instead of giving handouts, One Acre Fund invests in farmers to generate a permanent gain in farm income. We provide farmers with a "service bundle" that includes education, finance, seed and fertilizer, and market facilitation. Our program is proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands of harvests and measure 50-100% average gain in farm income per acre. Job Description
The Supply Chain Associate will be working on procurement of major inputs, such as fertilizer, seed, and solar lamps for all countries of operation. These items will reach 200,000 farmers in East Africa in 2014.
 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Working with local and multi-national suppliers of seed, fertilizer, and other large agricultural inputs. You will be representing One Acre Fund to the industry
  • Keeping up with new products in the market and working with our Innovations teams to trial them
  • Coordinating procurement staff in several countries
  • Negotiating for best pricing and terms with suppliers
  • Improving existing internal procurement procedures by incorporating best practices from other organizations
  • Ensuring quality of inputs by building out a strong Quality Assurance process
  • Working closely with International Logistics team to minimize delivered cost of fertilizer and seed

  • Some experience in procurement/supply chains strongly preferred, but not required. We are looking for a smart individual that can learn quickly.
  • Creativity and strong problem solving skills. You don’t take no for an answer and constantly look for alternative solutions to problems.
  • Experience working internationally preferred.
  • Leadership experience at work or outside of work.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Top-performing academic background (include GPA and test scores on your resume).
  • Language: English required, French and Swahili nice to have.

Compensation
Starts modest. However, this is a career-track role with fast raises for performance, paying a meaningful salary for long-term placement in developing nations.
