Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.

Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, the intern is to work on the Website and Intranet Site of the Evaluation Office, various Databases and, optionally, Evaluation communication products.

EVALUATION OFFICE INTERNET WEBSITE:
Review the user needs and suggest improvements to the structure and contents of the Evaluation Office Internet Website Work with UNON ICT staff in introducing the agreed changes to the structure and contents of the website Assist in data migration from the old UNEP Internet to the new UNEP internet. (With focus on communication style once data is moved, ensuring a homogenous and uniform presentation across the entire internet).

Assist in preparation of guidelines and protocols for maintenance and update of the website, and assist in the maintenance and update of the website

DATABASES
Assist in preparation of guidelines and protocols for EO staff on how to maintain and update the database UNEP's Programme Information Management System (PIMS):
Review user needs and propose structure and contents of the evaluation section in PIMS
Assist with integrating/uploading database information with/to UNEP's PIMS
Assist in preparation of guidelines for UNEP staff on how to maintain and update the evaluation section in PIMS

INTRANET
Review the user needs and suggest improvements to the structure and contents of the Evaluation Office Intranet site
Work with EO and UNON ICTS staff in programming the EO intranet site
Assist in data migration from the old UNEP intranet to the new UNEP intranet.

Education
University level degree (or working on one in Communication or ICT Management)
Work Experience
No work experience is required for internships.
Languages
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Assessment Method
Evaluation of candidates for this internship may include a substantive assessment which will
be followed by a written test and face-to-face or telephone interview.
