IFC’s Sub-Saharan Africa Region, is seeking to recruit an Investment Analyst to provide research, analytical, and business development support for IFC’s East Africa Regional Hub, with particular focus on Manufacturing and Consumer Services Sectors. The position will report to the Head of the East Africa Regional Hub and will work closely with the Africa business development team and Industry departments with the objective of securing good investments in the region, gathering market intelligence, and establishing strong relationships within governments and the business communities. The position provides an opportunity to obtain broad company, project and sectoral experience across a large and diversified range of businesses. It also includes exposure to IFC’s investment and advisory activities, creating a strong understanding of the organization’s operations and value addition to clients. The job holder will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, and the work will involve travel in the region.
Duties and Accountabilities:
• Liaise closely with headquarters, country managers, and project teams to ensure seamless, coordinated, and timely execution of key strategy and internal reporting documents.

• Collect, review, collate, and present the input from various sources for strategy development and country briefing documents. Generate summary reports, tables and statistics, as required.

• Support the planning and coordination of senior management visits, including: developing meeting agendas, drafting selected meeting materials, managing the preparation and follow-up to the meetings, including drafting meeting minutes, documenting and tracking resulting action items, and communicating with members on the next steps.

• Prepare financial models, analyze historical and projected financial statements, and conduct industry and market research. 

• Prepare documents required for investments, project proposals, and term sheets; participate in investment negotiations, supervise investments in portfolio companies, and prepare portfolio supervision reports / related information. 

• Assist in IFC's business development efforts through analysis of potential investment opportunities.
Selection Criteria:
• Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in an area such as international affairs, economics, finance, or business administration, and two years of relevant work experience, ideally gained in a financial institution or consulting company. 

• Strong analytical and conceptual skills and experience with managing, synthesizing, summarizing and presenting data.

• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective relationships within and outside IFC.

• Strong research and quantitative skills, with preference for a background in financial analysis and modeling. 

• Strong client service orientation with openness to feedback and new ideas.

• Advanced excel skills and power point skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to work flexibly on a range of assignments, cope with shifting priorities at short notice, and still deliver top quality work while meeting tight deadlines.

• Takes personal responsibility and accountability for timely response to client queries, requests or needs, working to remove obstacles that may impede execution or overall success.

• Excellent written and oral communications skills in English. 

• Ability to work sensitively and effectively in a multicultural setting.

Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 2 year term appointment.
