Project Health Officer


Community Health Partners Kenya (CHP) is an affiliate of Christian Missionary Fellowship (CMF) International which is a Faith Based Organization offering wholistic, affordable and accessible health care services to the general public in Narok South District in Narok County. Thanks to CHP experience, the project will focus mainly in maternal and child health, with the goal to convert the habits of home delivering into a safer and more secure delivery within health structures and under the supervision of adequate medical staff. CHP is in the process of implementing/expanding MCH services in Narok South district in partnership with Christian Aid under European Union funded MCH project.

CHP would like to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidate to join our dynamic MCH team in the following position:

PROJECT HEALTH OFFICER

Key Responsibilities
Duties & responsibilities
  • Manage and co-ordinate the overall MCH activities.
  • Organizes daily activities, including duties of staff and volunteers assigned to the MCH activities.
  • Coordinate capacity building of MCH health workers as CHEWs at project supported health facilities through training on Community strategy on MCH related trainings.
  • Coordinate capacity building of CHW’s health workers at project supported health facilities through training on Community strategy on MCH related trainings.
  • Support health data management at the District Health Office and the project supported facilities.
  • Support all community-based activities including outreaches, Community sessions and Mobile clinics, and encourage community participation in monitoring and demanding for quality health services.
  • Coordinate and conduct monthly and quarterly coordination meetings by and with CHW’s and DHMT meetings on MCH and other aspects relating to the project.
  • Contribute to documentation of the project lessons to enable learning from the action.
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacist, etc to ensure quality MCH services. 
  • Maintain collaboration with other health providers, stakeholders, including MOH staff on the ground like Community Strategy Focal Person (CSFP) etc.
  • Responsible for data collection, consolidation, analysis and report writing concerning MCH, and submitting the same to the Program Manager and other stakeholders (Christian Aid, DASCO etc) as required.
  • Facilitates appropriate referral to other health facilities for MCH clients, the mothers and infants.
  • Assists in formulation and implementation of policies and services.
  • Maintains good relations and understanding with other employees ensuring good team work/spirit.
  • Assists in providing monthly professional updates to the staff (CME’s) & continuous education to the activists.
  • Strengthen collaboration and linkages towards MCH.
  • Must be a born again Christian.
  • Any other duties that might be required.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Clinical Medicine, Nursing or Diploma in clinical medicine from recognized institution.
  • In-depth experience and understanding of Infant, young child and maternal health interventions in rural areas.
  • At least three years field experience, preferably with an NGO and or MoH.
  • Strong background in training and capacity building.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, in English and Kiswahili.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work with and mobilize the community.
  • Must be a team player, able to work under minimal supervision and maintain strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
  • Must be a born again Christian.
  • Knowledge of local language will be an added advantage.
