Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), the country’s premier
national agricultural research organization is mandated by Science and
Technology Amendment Act (CAP 250) of
1979 to develop, validate and disseminate appropriate agricultural
technologies to farmers in collaboration
with other stakeholders in the agricultural industry. KARI contributes to
national development through innovations
and new knowledge for agricultural enterprise. KARI further contributes to the
sustainable improvement in the livelihoods of Kenyans by increasing agricultural productivity, post
harvest value of agricultural and livestock products and conserving the
environment.
KARI’s Mission is to contribute to increased productivity,
commercialization and competitiveness of the agricultural sector through
generation and promotion of knowledge,
information and technologies that respond to client demands. The range
of the Institutes’ research programmes
include; crop research, research on livestock health and production, land and
water management, biotechnology and socio-economics and biometrics. To achieve
its mandate and strategic goals, the Institute has 24 main research centers and
8 subcenters located throughout the country and coordinated by its Headquarters
located on Kiptagat Road, Loresho, Nairobi.
To continue providing the requisite services to Kenyans, KARI wishes to
recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced persons to fill the following
position: -
SENIOR SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
OFFICER, RI. 11 JOB REF:
KARI/2/027/108 – One (1) Post
Job Purpose
An officer at this level will be responsible for performing a variety
of Procurement duties. Duties and responsibilities shall include the following:
Key Tasks
(i) In-charge of departmental stores.
(ii) Generate procurement reports.
(iii) Scrutinising all requisitions, shortages and losses before
recommending any appropriate action.
(iv) Maintaining database of approved sources of supply and research
into new and alternative sources.
(v) Receiving all the tender applications and compiling them for the
Tender Board Committee.
(vi) Ensuring compliance with established and internationally
recognised procurement procedures.
(vii) Participate in sourcing, supplier evaluation/rating, inviting
offers, negotiations and contracting.
(viii) Participate in compiling and evaluation of Tenders.
(ix) Assist in planning for all the supplies needs of the Institute and
formulating supplies policies and guidelines for the Institute.
(x) Carry out inspections to assess utilization and control of
supplies.
(xi) Provide support to end users on procurement guidelines.
(xii) Any other duties assigned
Minimum Job Specifications
i) Attained Masters degree in Economics/ Commerce (Supplies Management
Option)/Business Administration or any other related and equivalent
qualification from a recognised institution
ii) Shown proven competence in work performance and results
Remuneration
An attractive salary and allowances commensurate with the
