Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi invites applications for the position of Electrical Technician
Responsibilities
​Reporting to the team leader, the Electrical Technician will carry out activities relating to electrical supply and distribution, switchgear and control systems management involving maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing/handover and third party service supervision. S/he will assist the Team Leader and supervisor on spares requirement, pre-purchase technical appraisal and annual equipment replacement plan. Key responsibilities will be to: 

  • provide technical support for electrical systems and equipment throughout the hospital as assigned including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • document all actions and test results according to the policy
  • coordinate requests for special projects, such as new systems / equipment acquisition purchase planning, development of bid specifications, etc
  • in liaison with the team leader, develop preventative maintenance schedules and guidelines
  • develop systems/equipment safety and device-specific in-service education to other technicians and users as necessary
  • promptly respond to system/equipment Breakdown Maintenance(BDM) request from user Departments as per policy
  • timely complete Preventive Maintenance (PPM) for electrical system/equipment
  • liaise with user Departments for maintenance activities and report to team leader on issues arising
Requirements
​Applicants should:
  • have a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power and or Electronics Option) 
  • have at least five years experience in a similar position
  • be computer literate with excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
  • be registered and/or eligible for registration with the Engineering Board of Kenya
Knowledge of technical functioning and maintenance of HV/LV distribution, switchgear and controls, diesel generators, water supply and distribution systems equipment will be an added advantage.
