Accountant


The client is a Kenyan company that has been in operation since 2002, steadily growing to be at the forefront of supply of specialized building solutions. The company is aimed at partnering with builders to actualize their design concepts through provision of specialized building material solutions. Through the strength of their products, the company continues to partner with builders and specifiers in the construction industry. To enhance it’s growth, the client is looking to recruit an experienced accountant into the team to assist the Chief Accountant in the Finance and Accounting function. The job holder will be responsible for the management and consolidation of financial reporting, portfolio management and coordination of effective audit function. He/she will ensure the company's compliance to policies, procedures and budgets.

Responsibilities
 To assist the Chief Accountant to plan, organize and implement accounting operations and objectives; coordinate and integrate all activities towards achievement of established goals and objectives.
 Preparation of annual budgets as well as the implementation and monitoring these budgets prudentially.Ensure that all functions are performed within established budgetary parameters, to include performing cost control activities, monitoring revenues and expenditures and ensuring sound fiscal control.
 Assist in maintenance of proper audit trails and reconciliation actions for all processed work
 Process payments, monitor other expenditures and report on major variances.
 Prepare financial and management reports for review by Chief Accountant.
 Manage operational function in preparation of financial statements in accordance to IFRS within the statutory reporting requirements
 Assist in coordination of visits by external auditors and follow up on concerns raised in the management letter.

Requirements
 Degree in Commerce with a concentration in Accounting from a recognized University
 Professional Certificate of CPA (2) or an equal qualification in ACCA
 At least 2 years experience in the Accounting function within a trading company
 Advanced knowledge and skills in computerized financial Systems
 Experience in the management and consolidation of financial reporting
 Excellent organizational and analytical skills with precision and attention to detail while meeting deadlines
 Good interpersonal skills to fit into the good culture of the organization
